Efficient and Cost-Effective
Shoe Shipping Solution

A shoe manufacturer was incurring several million euros in extra costs annually due to shipping boxed shoes with up to 50% empty space. The aim was to eliminate this wasted space to reduce costs. Additionally, the customer needed to process shoes quickly within very limited time window at an airport hub, which has limited space and varied ceiling heights.

The Challenge

Develop a quick, efficient processing solution that could fit within limited processing time of the airport hub and spatial constraints.

The Objectives

The Solution

Bulk Shipping in LD7 Containers: Shoes are bulk shipped from Country A in LD7 containers, significantly reducing empty space within the containers.

Airport Hub Processing:

Receiving and Breakdown: At the Country B airport hub, pickers break down deliveries into SKUs and place them into boxes. These boxes are wrapped in plastic delivery bags for protection and labelled appropriately.

Scanning and Storage: Prepared shoe boxes are scanned and randomly inserted into the robotics solution.

Robotics-Assisted Order Preparation:

Order Preparation: The robotics solution organises the orders for individual dispatch, minimising wasted time and maximising
efficiency by reducing the need for walking, searching, and sorting.
